Samsung Develops Dual-Mode Solution for DVB-H
September 02, 2005
Samsung recently announced it has developed a DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Handhelds) front-end chipset which has both a RF tuner and a DVB-H/T (DVB-H/Terrestrial TV standard) - compliant channel decoder, the first time these two have been combined into one chipset. Mobile phone makers active in the DVB/H market might be able to shorten product development and speed up the market introduction of new offerings by using the new chipset, as they would not have to conduct compatibility testing and chip interface adjustments between a RF tuner and a channel decoder. Samsung plans to introduce the new chipset, which will also be able to support terrestrial DMB, in the middle of 2006.
